Strength Training, Longevity & Aging Well

Karen started her first strength training at 61. It’s never too late to start.

I was scrolling Twitter this morning… Yes, that’s my go-to mindless scrolling pleasure. And I came across a quote from Warren Buffett.

It was something along the lines of, “If I told you you’d only get one car for the rest of your entire life, I bet you would sure take good care of it. All the maintenance done on time, fixing anything that goes wrong with it immediately. Well, we only get one body, and it’s interesting we don’t really take care of it the same way.”

I’m paraphrasing, but that was the essence of it. And he is certainly dead-on right.

You only get one body, the one you’re currently in. And the sooner you start taking care of it, the better.

There is never a “too late,” and you get a bonus, literally. You can measure it in years of life. The sooner you start.

It is all too easy to forget the fact that we only get this one body. To get lost with all the comfort we have around us. To put off whatever it is we know will make our lives and our health better until next Monday…

The change people see in themselves and feel in their lives is so amazing, though, when they decide to stop putting off their health. I’ve lived it, and I see it time and time again in the gym.

Karen is 62, and she just started strength training with us for the first time in her life. In only 4 months, she is amazed at her renewed ability to just move through her normal life with more strength, more confidence, and less pain.

She trains once a week for 60 minutes and is seeing that difference. Soon she’ll be moving that up to twice a week.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. And now is always the best time to start. There’s nothing in life that pays off more than keeping your body, and mind, healthy.

If you read this far, get up and go for a walk with a loved one. Do some air squats. Go on a run.

Start small and work your way up. And if you’re ready to talk about finding a routine, no matter how small, we are here to help.
