HYROX SKI ERG

If you’ve been searching for HYROX training near Canby, Oregon, here’s what you need to know: Formidable Strength & Conditioning is now an official HYROX affiliate gym, and our program is open.

This post is going to tell you exactly what training looks like here — the schedule, the pricing, the coaching approach, and who it’s built for. No fluff.

WHERE WE’RE COMING FROM

Formidable has been in Canby for over 13 years. We started as CrossFit Formidable and rebranded to Formidable Strength & Conditioning as our coaching philosophy evolved. What hasn’t changed is this: we are a coaching-first gym. Every program we offer — group training, personal training, small group training, nutrition coaching — is built around real coaching from real coaches who know your name and pay attention to how you move.

HYROX is no different. We didn’t add this program because it’s trendy. We added it because it’s a genuinely great fit for the kind of athletes we work with and the kind of community we’ve built.

WHAT THE PROGRAM LOOKS LIKE

Our HYROX program currently meets once a week:

Saturday mornings at 7:30am.

Sessions are longer than a typical group class — that’s intentional. HYROX races take most people between 60 and 120 minutes to complete, so training needs to reflect that kind of sustained effort. You’re not doing a 20-minute conditioning piece and going home. You’re building real race-ready fitness.

A typical session might include:

  • A running component (building your aerobic base over time)
  • Station-specific work (sled technique, rowing, wall balls, farmers carry — practiced individually and in combination)
  • Race simulation pieces (running into a station when already tired — exactly what the race demands)
  • Pacing and strategy coaching (knowing how to distribute your effort across 8 rounds is a skill, and we coach it)

Over time, the sessions build on each other. You’re not just getting fitter — you’re getting more prepared for a specific event with a specific format.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The people who tend to thrive in our HYROX program fall into a few categories:

Current Formidable members who want a race goal. If you’ve been doing group classes and want something new to train toward, HYROX is a natural next step. The fitness you’ve already built transfers directly.

People who like to run and lift but have never combined them. HYROX was designed for exactly this person. If you’ve always done cardio separately from strength work and wondered what it would look like to put them together with a finish line — this is it.

Fitness-active people looking for structure and community. If you’ve been working out on your own and want coaching, accountability, and a crew to train alongside, our Saturday morning sessions give you all three.

Competitive athletes who want a measurable challenge. HYROX is one of the most honest fitness tests around. The clock doesn’t lie. If you want to know what you’re actually capable of — this race will tell you.

COACHING AT FORMIDABLE

Our coaches — Reid, Katie, Sandy, Andy, Trevor, and Riley — are the reason people stay at this gym for years. We know our members. We watch how they move. We adjust loads and scaling in real time. We don’t run a program at people; we coach people through a program.

That matters especially for HYROX, where technique on the stations (sled push mechanics, rowing efficiency, wall ball pacing) can make a significant difference in your race time and your ability to stay injury-free while training hard.

PRICING

HYROX Training membership: $125 per 4 weeks
Drop-in sessions: $35 per session

If you’re already a Formidable member and want to add HYROX training to your schedule, talk to us about options. We’ll figure out what makes sense.

THE OPEN HOUSE

We’re hosting a free HYROX open house on Saturday, June 27th at 7:30am right here at Formidable in Canby.

Come in and see the space. Meet the coaches. Learn what the program looks like in practice. Ask every question you have. There’s no commitment required to show up — just curiosity.
