Why community matters when it comes to your health and fitness.

I find myself, over and over again, coming back to how important community is to me. And not just to me, but to all our members and all the people I talk to who come through our doors looking to start a fitness routine.

It’s damn hard these days to be healthy on your own. There are just too many opportunities for distraction and too many things that seem fun, or easy, or relaxing that pull us away from what’s healthy and good for us.

It’s hard to stay accountable on your own.
It’s hard to come up with creative, fun workouts on your own.
It’s hard to create new healthy habits on your own.
It’s hard to stay consistent on your own.
It’s hard to teach yourself new stuff.
It’s hard to avoid injuries on your own.
It’s hard to get injuries better on your own.
It’s hard to know what to do on your own.

The list goes on and on. That’s why we’ve built what we have here at Formidable Strength and Conditioning.

Because you should look forward to the hours in the week you take for your health and fitness. They should be some of your favorite waking hours. Because when you enjoy something, you keep doing it—and you get better at doing it.

And it’s only when we create new habits, lifestyles, and routines that things really start to change. Not just our bodies—more muscle and less fat. Not just our energy and capacity for navigating life. Not just our relationships at home, at work, and with ourselves. But how we view and interact with the world—the stories and narratives that literally shape who we are being in the world.

It definitely doesn’t happen overnight. And you may read this and say, “What a load of malarkey.” But I’ve seen it time and time again with people who dedicate their time and energy week after week, year after year. And the results are remarkable.

And one of the most important elements of that is community. A formidable community. A group of people who inspire you, root for you, and walk beside you—each one working on just being a little better version of themselves every day.

It’s powerful and inspiring—and a beautiful thing to be a part of.

And that’s what we have here at Formidable. It might not be for everyone, but if you’re even a little curious, come talk with us. It just might change your life—one step, one day at a time.

And if nothing else, I hope this encourages you that you don’t have to do it alone. It’s a heck of a lot easier—and a lot more fun—to do it with others!
