This week has been a reminder to me how important movement is and how important it is to have people who support that in your life.
SO far the week has been a little hectic and emotionally heavier than I like. At least that’s the story I’m telling myself.
There’s no daycare this week for our 4-year-old, so we’ve got a lot more parenting time. Which is great… and also takes a lot of energy out of my wife and me.
I’ve got some other things weighing on me, like we all do at times.
My amazing, lovely wife of course knows me well and knows the importance of movement, so she took over as coach in class yesterday so I could work out… She was also probably a little tired of me being mopey around the house :).
Anyhow, aside from being reminded just how much I love her, I was also reminded how important it is to move my body. And to have people in my life who help support that, especially when things feel hard and heavy.
We are all humans, and we all have tough, busy weeks throughout the year. We all have ups and downs.
And we all have a body and endorphin system that craves movement and that releases dopamine when we do move.
Movement is one of the best ways to get out of your head, away from your thoughts and emotions. It helps stabilize our moods and release energy that isn’t doing any good being trapped in the body.
It’s one of the absolute healthiest and best ways to release unneeded stress we hold onto from life.
And we need people in our lives who can help support us and remind us of this fact.
That’s just one of the things that’s so powerful about being part of a community of people at a gym like ours. You have people in your corner, people who prioritize their health and help you do the same.
So I implore you, go move your body and start looking for people in your life who move their bodies and encourage you to do so also.
And don’t forget, it should be fun!
If you don’t want to do it alone come chat! We love to help.
