Beginner Fitness & Starting Again

The Story You Tell Yourself Is Shaping Your Health More Than You Think

Small group training goals at Formidable Strength and Conditioning

Alright, we’re breaking away from the normal fitness blogs and routines and going with a new format for the next month.

30 days, 1 blog per day of whatever’s present.

If you’re reading this, it’s because at some level you care about your health and fitness.

So today I want to start by talking about your health and fitness at its most foundational level. And that is looking closer at the story that you tell yourselves about life.

For most of us, I don’t think we spend enough time really investigating this, especially when it comes to things that we have intentions of doing but seem to have a hard time really committing to.

And again, chances are if you’re here reading this, you are looking for some help in taking that first step toward being a healthier you.

Being a human is a wild, mysterious ride with lots of ups and downs. As we move through this life, we create stories that help us hold onto an identity of who we are, or more aptly, who we think we are, what things matter to us, and “how the world works.”

All of that is created in our heads and our thoughts. All of it. No exceptions. And you are never not creating and adding to that story.

That story that we each have starts to run on autopilot, and if we’re not careful, it really takes over our lives. But as we realize that it is just a story and we are the ones creating it, some amazing things can start to happen in our lives.

So I invite you, if you’ve made it this far, to ask yourself this:

What is the story you’re creating about your health and fitness?

What is the story you have created about where you are?

What is the story you’re living into about why you don’t have the body or fitness level you want?

And what if, as a possibility, none of those stories had to be true?

What if it was possible to have a different story about you? One that you loved being in every single day? One that allowed you to commit and dedicate time for your health, fitness, and well-being regardless of the “stressors” of daily life?

I see it all the time when people come in to talk about getting started. Their mindset is the number one predictor of how successful they will be with starting and sticking with a new fitness or health routine.

And I’ve seen people change the stories they have about themselves time and time again.

So if you’re ready to get started and rewrite some of your story, we would love to talk and help you fall in love with being the best version of you.
